Community appeal
Back the battery credit for East Providence
Residents asking the City of East Providence and the State of Rhode Island to back the battery credit that would pay for grid work at our Water Street waterfront.
What is being asked
The ask to the East Providence City Council
We are asking the city and the state to support a battery storage credit for scheduled boat batteries kept at a local marina.
The credit is what makes the dock power upgrade and the storage block on the waterfront pay for themselves, instead of landing on ratepayers or on the city budget.
Nothing has been filed, granted or approved. This appeal is a request from neighbors, and it is meant to be read by the Council and by our state delegation before any decision is taken.
What it pays for here
Where the credit goes
Heavier service and new wiring to the docks, which upgrades a piece of the distribution network in Riverside and Rumford.
A storage block that charges when the network is easy and pushes power back when the region is straining.
A share of the credit sales set aside for local benefit — resident charging and backup power are the two we would put first. Every figure remains modelled until the city, the utility and the marina confirm it.
