Hosting GridLynQ: the licence in plain language
Before you apply, here is what a GridLynQ licence is, why we use one, what you get and what each side agrees to do.
What the licence is
It is the agreement that lets your property join the GridLynQ network. It gives your site the right to use our proprietary technology — the apps, the pedestal connections and the network — and it sets out how the battery block is placed on your site, how you are paid and what each side looks after. It runs for 25 years, with three 20-year renewals, and stays with the property if it is sold.
Why sites are licensed
One standard across every site
The utility treats our sites as one power plant, so every site has to measure and respond the same way. The licence keeps that standard.
Safety and grid rules
The equipment connects to the utility. The licence makes sure it is installed, inspected and run within those rules.
Clear, fair payments
It sets out who is paid what, and when, so there are no surprises later.
Certainty for the long term
A long term lets GridLynQ pay for the equipment and stand behind its performance for the life of the site.
What you get
No capital from you
GridLynQ pays for, owns, maintains and replaces the battery equipment.
A lower power bill
The battery covers your busiest hours, cutting the peak part of your bill first.
A monthly payout
A share of the savings, dock power sales and grid income, on a clear monthly statement.
Apps for you and your boaters
A manager view of every pedestal and kWh, and an app for boaters and guests.
Room to grow
More capacity and dock upgrades as more boats sign up, including fast charging where the site suits it.
One voice with the utility
We deal with the utility for the whole group of sites, not one at a time.
Who looks after what
You, the host
- Provide the agreed space for the battery block and reasonable access for installation and service.
- Leave GridLynQ equipment and meters as installed — no changes without our agreement.
- Share the utility bills and site details we need, and tell us about damage, outages or a change of ownership.
- Keep the private terms you receive confidential.
- Describe the programme accurately to your boaters and guests.
GridLynQ
- Pay for, own, insure, maintain and replace the equipment for the full term.
- Meet safety codes and the utility's rules.
- Pay on time, with an accurate monthly statement you can check.
- Follow your site rules and carry insurance that covers your property.
If something goes wrong, either side gets time to put it right before the agreement can end. Ending early in the first ten years means repaying the equipment cost not yet recovered.
From application to go-live
1. Apply
Tell us about your site. A refundable deposit holds your place.
2. Private terms
You sign a short confidentiality agreement and see the real terms for your site.
3. Site visit
We survey your docks, power and where the battery would go.
4. Proposal
Your site's numbers, confirmed after the visit.
5. Sign and build
Only a signed lease or licence commits either side. Then we plan the install.
This page is a plain-language summary, not the agreement itself and not an offer. Rates and revenue-share percentages are shared privately after you sign a confidentiality agreement, and your signed lease or licence is what governs.
